Poor turnout for Nirudyoga march shocks BJP

Warangal: The state BJP leadership, which has been fighting the BRS against the TSPSC Group-I question paper leak, was left disappointed with the poor turnout of unemployed youth and students to the Nirudyoga march in Hanamkonda on Saturday.

The party hoped to mobilise at least 10,000 unemployed youth from each erstwhile district.

Nirudyoga march was attended by state chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Dr K. Laxman, Etala Rajendar, Raghunandan, N.V.S.S. Prabhakar, Vijaya Ramarao and Bikshapathi.

The party’s district unit leaders had widely publicised the Nirudyoga march and students and youth to make it a huge success, including by way of hoardings and flexies. They distributed pamphlets in Kakatiya university, coaching centres, colleges, libraries, unemployed youth and private teachers associations. All these measures have fallen flat.

Although the originally scheduled 3 pm commencement was postponed because of severe heat conditions, when the meeting did start at 5.45 pm, an estimated 2,000 to 3,000 people turned up. Most of them were students.

Some activists tied wristbands on which was written ‘Unemployed victim#30’ while some threw leaflets, which demanded IT minister K.T. Rama to resign from his post.

The rally, which started from SDLCE campus of Kakatiya university, culminated at Ambedkar circle passing through Naimnagar, police headquarters and public garden.

Meanwhile, police provided tight security by deploying more than 300 personnel to prevent any untoward incidents. They also prevented vehicles coming to Hanamkonda from Hyderabad, Khammam and Karimnagar districts.
