BJP to add 4 lakh Telangana youths to party
Hyderabad: After an energetic performance in the Lok Sabha elections in Telangana state, the BJP wants to target young people to strengthen the party in Telangana state. To this end the party will launch an enrolment drive to enrol around 30 lakh members in the state.
The BJP’s N. Ramachandra Rao told this newspaper, “The party is starting a special membership drive for youth. We have set a target to enrol four lakh youth in Hyderabad city and 30 lakh in the state.”
Another BJP senior leader said that across the country, first-time voters trusted the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Keeping this in mind, the party has decided to empower the youth politically.
He claimed that most youngsters are interested in politics, but they can't get a proper platform and the BJP top leadership has decided to give them a platform and train them to be involved in politics “to build a young India”.
While the BJP is straining every nerve to build a strong base, the Telangana Rashtra Samiti leadership was confident that its cadres will remain loyal to the TRS and its supremo and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
TRS senior leader and home minister Moham-mad Mahmood Ali told Deccan Chronicle: “An online membership campaign won't get the BJP any mileage as the people of Telangana have trust in KCR and his initiatives for the development of the people and the region. Though we live in a democracy and everybody is free to make their own choices and decisions, the people of Telangana will always stand with KCR.”
He said TRS membership is always open for people and the membership drive of the BJP will not be able to compete with it.
