SRSP Water Levels Soar Amidst Rising Inflows and Heavy Rains
Nizamabad: Due to the swelling water level in the Godavari river, the inflows into the Sriram Sagar Project (SRSP) gradually increased from 12,515 cusecs to 38,250 cusecs on Saturday.
With the incessant rains in the catchment areas of Nizamabad and Nirmal districts and upstream areas of Maharashtra state, the current water level at the project reached 1068.70 ft against its full reservoir level of 1091.00 ft with 26.476 tmc of water storage.
On the same day last year, the water level was at 1087.70 ft with storage of 75.465 tmc.
The project has received around 5,800 cusecs from Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project in reverse pumping mode.
The outflow was 1,208 cusecs while around 600 cusecs were released for Alisagar and Gutpa lift irrigation projects for irrigation needs in Nizamabad district. And, 152 cusecs were released for drinking water needs of Jagtial, Nirmal, Adilabad, Kamareddy and Nizamabad districts.
