Selfie mania forces cops to act tough at Krishna Pushkaralu

This selfie mania is leaving many mobile phones as they are slipping into the water.

Amaravati: Selfie mania is visible in all Pushkar ghats but forcing the police to impose restriction on this new favourite pastime in view of increased rush of devotees on Sunday. Most of the people taking selfies are youngsters who are doing so while taking holy dips in the Krishna river.

The Krishna Pushkaralu are celebrated once every 12 years so it is natural that the pilgrims want to preserve these moments for posterity. However, this selfie mania is leaving many mobile phones as they are slipping into the water.

The security personnel deployed at the ghats had a tough time keeping an eye on some overly adventurous selfie takers who posed a risk to themselves with their concentration focused on capturing the moment. Devotees said that their phones were rendered useless after falling in the water.

However, the police, observing the selfie mania had turned into a nuisance and was disturbing the rituals banned photos in Seetanagram and other ghats from Sunday night.
