Girl fakes saga to escape studies

Panjagutta police solved the case within 12 hours on Wednesday.

Hyderabad: Taking inspiration from the recently released Telugu psychological thriller Rakshasudu, an 18-year-old girl made up a kidnap story to escape from studying in Hyderabad as she wanted to go back to her hometown Guntur.

Panjagutta police solved the case within 12 hours on Wednesday.

According to the police, the 18-year-old girl who was in the first year of a degree course in Villa Marie College in Somajiguda, approached the police on Wednesday stating that she had been kidnapped by some unknown persons from her hostel in Somajiguda.

She stated that on Monday (August 12) at around 7 pm three people sprayed something on her face, after which she fell unconscious. They then took her to some place she didn’t recognise and imprisoned her in a room.

However, she managed to escape, she said, and went to Secunderabad railway station and then to Kachiguda through MMTS and took a train to Guntur and reached her home on Tuesday morning and informed her parents about the incident.

She also told them that the kidnappers stole her gold ornaments.

The parents registered a complaint with the Panjagutta police on Wednesday. Panjagutta ACP Thirupathanna said, “We investigated the case and analysed the CCTV footages in the surrounding areas, analysed the call data of the complainant, and reconstructed the crime scene and confirmed that the kidnapping didn’t happen.”

After long hours of questioning, the girl confessed that he didn’t want to study in Hyderabad as the course was too difficult, and made up the kidnap story inspired by the film Rakshasudu.
