I-T sleuths complete raids at Kodanad estate

On Tuesday, the raids were conducted for the sixth consecutive day.

Ooty: The raids conducted by the Income Tax (I-T) sleuths at Kodanad estate concluded on the sixth day on Tuesday evening, as the I-T sleuths left the estate shortly after sunset.

Considered one of the lengthiest I-T raids in the hills here in decades, the I-T officials who entered the Kodanad estate last Thursday early morning, continued their search for six days. On Tuesday, the raids were conducted for the sixth consecutive day.

While the team of officials from the I-T department chose to be tight-lipped as usual, sources said that on Monday night the officials shifted the indiscriminating documents and other articles seized during the raids to I-T zonal office in Coimbatore.

Sources further added that the I-T officials grilled the estate manager Mr. Natarajan over the past six days in an attempt to elicit information about the various documents seized during the raid. The officials also held an enquiry to ascertain whether any undue favoritism was shown towards the estate when it was promoting floriculture some years ago by diverting government subsidy
to it.

When I-T officials left the estate on Tuesday evening, they have taken the estate manager Mr Natarajan with them to the I-T zonal office in Coimbatore for further enquiries, sources added.
