Karimnagar: The team representing the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) of Godavarikhani emerged as runner-up with an impressive medal collection at the Coal India Inter Company Power-lifting, Weight-lifting and Body-building tournament 2023-24 held at Nagpur in Maharashtra.
During the three-day event held at the Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) headquarters in Maharashtra, the SCCL athletes clinched a total of 20 medals.
Around 33 players excelled in various categories with eight members participating in men’s power-lifting, six in women’s power-lifting, 10 in weight lifting and nine in body-building competition.
They bagged a total of five gold, eight silver and seven bronze medals apart from securing the runner-up position in the tournament. Notably, Syed Abdullah Ahmed clinched two gold medals.
WCL chief managing director Manoj Kumar presented the CIL runner-up trophy to the team at the award distribution ceremony.
