Shia board complaint against Maulana Sajjad Nomani
New Delhi: In a fresh twist to the ongoing controversy on the Ayodhya issue, the chairman of the Shia Central Waqf Board, Waseem Rizvi, has lodged a complaint against the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) spokesperson under sedition charges, for giving an anti-national statement. In a statement, Mr Rizvi said that he had given an application to the Hazratganj police in Lucknow on Thursday, for lodging an FIR under Sections 124A, 153A, 153B and 298 of the IPC against AIMPLB spokesperson Maulana Sajjad Nomani for his statement in Hyderabad on February 9 during the meeting of the Board.
“Nomani through his statement is conspiring to wage a civil war in the country by instigating the Muslims. This amounts to sedition.” “The AIMPLB leader, who gave this statement before the media, had also claimed that he has photograph to substantiate his claim about the arms training in several districts of the country", Rizvi added. According to the complaint, Mr Nomani had reportedly said that the condition of Indian Muslims was like that of Rohingya Muslims. He further said that Muslims in India were getting firearms’ training to deal with the situation. Mr Rizvi said that the statement is anti-national.
