Ooty: Arduous task for HR & CE at Mudumalai Tiger Reserve after car festival

Ooty: While the five-day annual car festival at the jungle temple located at Bokkapuram area at Mudumalai Tiger Reserve (MTR) buffer zone limits concluded on Tuesday last, now the scenario around the temple in the wooded zone is full of garbage. An arduous task lies ahead for the Hindu Religious and charitable Endowments (HR& CE) department, which runs the temple, to remove all the garbage and other throwaway wastes there.

Though the HR&CE department has initiated the move to collect and remove all the garbage, which includes liquor bottles and plastics, they are found strewn around the temple vicinity.

It appears that it will need more time and more manpower and sincere efforts to clear the heaps of garbage inside the woods. Green activists rued that the Sholur town panchayat had not planned the whole exercise properly.
