Now we know: Cops in cahoots

The Electronics City police claimed that the residents of Ajmera Infinity never approached them earlier.

BENGALURU: While the Electronics City police claimed that the residents of Ajmera Infinity never approached them earlier and apprised them about the goons trespassing on their premises, Deccan Chronicle is in possession of the complaint filed by the residents and the acknowledgement issued by the jurisdictional police dated April 10, 2016. Amid speculation that the jurisdictional police tried to resolve the issue at the station level without informing their higher-ups, who have stated that no complaint was filed by the residents before Thursday night, it is being alleged that the local police are working in favour of the builder.

Substantiating the allegations, it has been found that the goons, who were taken to task by an ASI in the marketing office and were taken to police station on April 10, were back again the very next day. The complaint which was made to the Station House Officer on April 10, 2016, states that four rowdy elements involved were hiding in the marketing officer of Ajmera Housing Corporation and were involved in intimidating the residents including females and senior citizens.

"The rowdy elements were the same who were involved in demolishing the wall on April 10 noon. They have been staying in the marketing office of Ajmera Housing Corporation for past many days and are a threat to the safety and security of the people," the complaint signed by over 15 residents stated. Speaking with this newspaper, a resident said, "On April 10 morning the goons armed with sticks and clubs demolished the wall upscaled by the residents. In the evening, a few residents approached the police and informed them about the incident. We were made to wait at the station for over 5 hours. And it was then when one of the residents informed us about the goons back in the premises following which a team of five policemen reach the spot and apprehended the four goons while one managed to flee the spot."

The residents have also videographed the entire act of April 10 night where the policemen are clearly seen questioning the goons. Meanwhile, Dr. Boralingaiah, DCP (South East), said, "There was a civil dispute between the Residents' Association and the builder for few months. They approached the Police station and both the groups filed complaints claiming intimidation and destruction of property. Based on which we registered the FIR. Regarding the weapons, no proper complaint or video was received. We are contacting the parties for the proper video. Based on that, we will take appropriate action. They claim police initially refused to take up the complaint. We will investigate and if there is a lapse on our side, we will take disciplinary action."
