Now Telangana cops to teach ISB execs a thing or two about adversity

In a first, Telangana State Police Academy and ISB have come together to design a comprehensive course for Corporate executives

Hyderabad: For executives in the Corporate world, a typical day is all about endless meetings where they are expected to take decisions, pretty quick. Multi-tasking during the long work hours, facing crisis situations and challenges inside their swanky offices -- is all part of the game.

But are they able to handle it? No? Well, the policemen are now getting ready to teach them a lesson or two in handling all of it, just like the way the men in khaki are trained to deal with everyday challenges.

In a first, the Telangana State Police Academy (TSPA) and the International School of Business (ISB) have come together to design a comprehensive course for Corporate executives to make them effective leaders, who are better equipped to take on the challenges at work. The executives will get to live the life of a trainee police personnel -- replete with firing practice sessions !

Confirming the development to Deccan Chronicle, TSPA Director VK Singh said that the idea to have a special course for corporate executives was to make them physically and mentally fit to take on the challenges and crisis at work.

''Policemen face adversities everyday while on the job and it is their training due to which they handle the crisis situations effectively. A similar course is being designed for executives for which we have roped in ISB,'' he said.

The executives will undergo training sessions for a period of three or six days or even more. They will undergo firing practice sessions with non-prohibited bore weapons, participate in the parade and will take obstacle courses.

Like the trainee police personnel, the executives too will undergo orientation courses as well which will help them build interpersonal relationships and improve their performance at work. They will be accommodated within the campus for the training period. Over the years, the academy has been spruced up and now has all the state-of-the-art facilities.

''The overall course is being developed with various elements from the police and the corporate world, which will be beneficial for the executives. The course will commence shortly,'' VK Singh, a 1987 batch IPS officer said. The training will come at a price and the fee structure is still being worked out.
