CM Jagan to Start Distribution of TIDCO Houses at Gudivada

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy would distribute the 300 sq.ft Tidco houses with complete rights to 1,43,600 beneficiaries across the state on Friday, for a token payment of Rs 1 by each of them. This involves a sum of Rs 9,406 crore.

The CM would formally hand over 8,912 Tidco houses to the beneficiaries at Gudivada and address a public meeting there on Friday.

Jagan Mohan Reddy said, “The government is giving top priority to the housing programme as it is the flagship scheme of Navaratnalu. In the term of the TD government, the poor women beneficiaries had to pay Rs 3,000 every month for 20 years, amounting to Rs 7.20 lakh as principal and interest for the same house.”

“The total burden of Rs 10,339 crore on the beneficiaries has been reduced sharply by our government. We are giving the 300 sq-ft Tidco houses for a token payment of Rs 1,” he said.

A total of 8,912 Tidco houses were built in Mallayapalem in Gudivada municipality of Krishna district in a single layout of 77 acres.

Adjacent to that, another 4,500 houses are under construction, out of the planned 7,728 house plots on 178.63 acres.

Housing minister Jogi Ramesh said the 300 sq-ft Tidco houses would be distributed with complete rights to 1,43,600 beneficiaries across the state for a token payment of Rs 1. This would involve a fund of Rs 9,460 crore and benefit women in special, he said.

He said the YSRC government is providing Rs 25,000 to each of the 44,304 beneficiaries of the 365 sq.ft Tidco houses and Rs 50,000 to each of the 74,312 beneficiaries of the 430 sq.ft houses by way of a 50 per cent rebate on the upfront contribution to be paid by the beneficiaries. The state is thus bearing a burden of Rs 482 crore, he said.

The minister said the Free Registration for Tidco houses meant an additional benefit of Rs 60,000 to each beneficiary.

“Our government is providing a total benefit of Rs 16,601 crores to 2.62 lakh Tidco house beneficiaries across the state, including an Rs 11,672 crore subsidy, Rs 482 crore towards providing a rebate of 50 per cent of the upfront contribution, Rs 1,200 crore in the form of free registrations and Rs 3,247 crores for infrastructure.”

Officials said the total expenditure for land acquisition, construction of houses and infrastructure development for Tidco houses was Rs 799.19 crore. As a measure to empower women, free house site pattas and houses are distributed in their name only. Each woman beneficiary gets a benefit of at least Rs 5.5 lakh to Rs 15 lakh and a total wealth of at least Rs 2 lakh crore to Rs 3 lakh crore will be in the hands of women beneficiaries across the state.

So far, the government has distributed 30.60 lakh house site pattas across the state, in which construction of over 21 lakh houses under the “Navaratnalu - Pedalandariki Illu '' is progressing and the value of 30.6 lakh house sites across the state is Rs 77,000 crore.
