Andhra Pradesh to be e-learning hub
Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said that the government is trying to develop the state as an e-learning gaming hub.
He directed the ministry of education to take the assistance of the Unesco on such development issues. Representatives of the Unesco and Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Edu-cation For Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP), and minister for HRD Ganta Srinivasa Rao met the CM on Saturday at the Secretariat.
The minister told the Chief Minister that the MGIEP, in association with the Unesco, would be conducting an international conference in Visakhapatnam from December 16 to 18 on “Transforming Education For Humanity”. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella will attend the conference as a speaker, said Mr Srinivasa Rao. Unesco-MGIEP representative Anantha Durai-appa, CMO secretary Girija Shankar and Intermediate Board secr-etary Udaya Lakshmi participated in the meeting.
The CM has directed the officials to organise the Indian Economic Associ-ation's (IEA) centenary celebrations at Acharya Nagarjuna University from December 27 to 30 in a grand way. The CM launched the online skill development course of the ANU, on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, he felt that new courses should be introduced in technology-based fiscal areas in order to showcase the state of Andhra Pradesh as the pioneer in that area.
IEA chairman Professor Sukhadev Torat, ANU Vice-Chancellor Rajendra Prasad and AP Higher Education Council vice-chairman Professor P. Narasimha Rao were also present.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister said efforts of Dr K.L. Rao were remarkable in the completion of Nagarjunasagar project and as a former Union irrigation minister, he remained in the hearts of the Telugu people.
The Chief Minister participated in 115th birth anniversary celebrations of Dr K.L. Rao at Tummalapalli Kalaksh-etram in Vijayawada on Saturday and asked the citizens of the state to take him as an inspiration.
Irrigation projects were given top priority in the state and completing Polavaram project will fulfill the dream of K.L. Rao, said Mr Naidu.
There was around two crore acres of land available for cultivation and only 1.05 lakh acres was given water for now and completion of all projects will help another 20 lakh acres, said Mr Naidu.
He said that Pattiseema lift irrigation project was helpful in saving crops in the Krishna delta in crisis situation and getting high yield. He stressed on efforts kept by water associations and applauded Cherukuri Veeriah who was working hard at the age of 80 on irrigation issues.
