HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao made an effort to appease disgruntled unemployed youth on the occasion of the Independence Day celebrations on Tuesday.
He said that steps would be taken to fill 84,876 posts shortly. In a veiled attack on the opposition parties, Mr Rao said that obstacles created by adverse elements will not affect morale and commitment of the government for overall development of the state.
Addressing a big gathering after hoisting the Tricolour at the historic Golconda Fort, Mr Rao said the target was one lakh jobs initially. Over and above that, the TRS government is taking steps to fill 1,12,536 posts.
Mr Rao added that the government has given instructions to start the process of job recruitment to fill vacancies that are required for next year also.
The Chief Minister, who slammed the opposition in a marathon press meet held recently, used the opportunity to take a dig at rival parties once again.
“Despite obstacles created by negative elements with their narrow-mindedness, we are marching ahead. Let me make it abundantly clear that they cannot divert my attention and come in the way of my firm resolve for the overall development of the state,” he stressed.
TS to conduct land survey
Mr Rao stated that it was a proud moment for the state to get the opportunity to host the Global Entrepreneurship Summit from November 28 to 30 in Hyderabad.
The conference, to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump’s daughter and adviser Ivanka Trump, would benefit industrialists and aspiring entrepreneurs and also put Telangana on the global map, he observed.
The state stood first in EoDB (Ease of Doing Business) rankings and industrialists from all over the globe were attracted towards the state government's industrial policy, the CM said.
“So far investment of Rs 1,01,722 crore has come to the state and 4,118 new industries were given clearances and licences, resulting in employment to 2.9 lakh people,” Mr Rao added.
The state government will launch a scheme to provide financial assistance to farmers of Rs 8,000 per acre for two crops every year, besides taking steps to create crop colonies to ensure better produce and price, he said.
Stating that Telangana will be conducting a comprehensive land survey across the state, Mr Rao appealed to farmers to actively participate in it and make it a big success.
“The land survey was done way back in 1936 under Nizam's rule and no survey has been conducted since. The state government is set to create history by taking up the survey after a gap of 81 years,” Mr Rao said.
He also spoke about numerous flagship, welfare and development initiatives of the government that were benefitting various sections and communities.
Opposition parties, including the Congress and TDP, were conspicuous by their absence at the state-organised programme. Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, K. Jana Reddy, said that they got the invitation from government but could not attend due to flag-hoisting at Gandhi Bhavan around the same time.
