Students defy maoists, hoist flag in Dantewada
Bhopal: Amid reports of Maoists forcing locals to hoist black flag in government-run educational institutions in remote areas in conflict zone of Bastar in Chhattisgarh on Monday, tribal children in a village in insurgency-hit Dantewada district in the region unfurled the Tricolour braving the Maoist threat.
Tribal children of Rewari village in Dantewada district in Chhattisgarh marched to their school early on Tuesday morning and hoisted the Tricolour. Their teacher presided over the function.
"We have received reports that tribal children of Rewari village for the first time hoisted Tricolor in their school braving Maoists threats. The development, witnessed for the first time in the locality, is a setback for the rebels,” a police officer said.
