Hyderabad: Kishanbagh Park needs CCTVs
Hyderabad: Two months after the inauguration of the Kishanbagh Park in Bahadurpura, the police has asked the authorities to install closed-circuit TV cameras on the premises, after some incidents of eve-teasing and unlawful entry at night.
Bahadurpura police station Station House Officer Khaleel Pasha said that the department had requested the GHMC authorities to install cameras in the park to ensure safety of the people.
“As part of community policing I had motivated a few locals to collect funds to install cameras in front of the park. About Rs 36,000 was collected from the public and the cameras will be installed in two days,” the Inspector said.
The police had told GHMC authorities that the park is spread over a vast area and there are several neighbourhoods adjoining the park. Several families visit during the evenings while a couple of hundred people come for a morning walk every day.
In recent few weeks, there were a couple of unsavoury incidents in the park. Ten days ago, some persons had reportedly passed comments on a girl. The police intervened and resolved the issue. Also, at the back of the park, some persons had cut the barbed wire and gained entry into the park. “The area was earlier illuminated too,” said a security guard at the park.
On regular days, about 300 people visit the park while the numbers swell during weekends.
