Hyderabad: Students forced to take admissions in pharma
Hyderabad: Parents have alleged that, due to vacant seats in Pharmacy colleges, they are forced to take up these seats by submitting their certificates and paying fees even before the counselling for veterinary, agricultural and horticulture courses has commenced.
The parents complained that they have been given a deadline of August 13 to submit documents and pay the fees, as otherwise they will lose the seat in Pharmacy as well as in other courses.
Parents have demanded completion of other counselling before forcing the students to join Pharmacy courses. Students and parents are annoyed that even the degree option is closed for them as degree admissions have already finished for the current academic year.
Mr Parminder Singh Fouji, father of a veterinary aspirant said “My daughter is very fond of pets and animals since childhood and she always aspired to become a veterinary doctor but because of the negligence of the EAMCET authorities my daughter is unable to join veterinary courses. We are being forced to join pharmacy colleges and are also being asked to submit certificates and make the fee payment, even before the EAMCET counselling for Veterinary, Agricultural and Horticulture courses.”
He said, “Thousands of students are suffering because of the vacant seats in pharmacy colleges. We are helpless because we have been informed that if we don’t pay the fees and submit certificates by August 13, we will not be able get any seat this year which will be a big injustice to the aspirants of veterinary, agricultural and horticulture courses. Just because seats are lying vacant in pharmacy courses we cannot admit our children in pharmacy colleges. We demand that authorities resolve our issues before our children lose seats this year.”
Mr Mohammad Khalid Khan, another parent, said, “Veterinary counselling is scheduled for August 18, 2018 and we are being forced to pay fees for Pharmacy colleges by being given a deadline of August 13. We have been told to pay fees and submit certificates to the pharmacy colleges and can withdraw the admission and certificates if our children get seats in veterinary colleges later.”
