Anantapur will emerge top in development: Peddireddy Ramchandra Reddy
Anantapur: In-charge minister and Rayalaseema regional coordinator Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy on Tuesday underlined that the state government led by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is keen on making Anantapur district top in development.
Hoisting the National Flag at police parade grounds in Anantapur on Tuesday, he pointed out that Anantapur, with 63 mandals, had been the biggest district. After YSRC formed the government, it has been divided into two districts, so that the new districts could develop individually.
Peddireddy reiterated that as part of Navarathnalu programme, 2.76 lakh farmers in Anantapur have been given financial assistance of ₹373 crore through YSR Rythu Bharosa and PM Kisan. In addition, 6,376 leased farmers have been given ownership of lands.
The minister said the main irrigation source Handri Neeva Sujala Shravanthi project’s main canal will be widened to draw additional 6,300 cusecs of water at an estimated cost of ₹6,182 crore. 20 tanks are being filled through the Jeedipalli reservoir. He underlined that about ₹83 crore have been sanctioned for rehabilitation of people under the Jeedipalli reservoir.
MP T. Rangaiah, APIIC chairman Mettu Govinda Reddy and Anantapur MLA Anantha Venkatrami Reddy were among those present.
