MP: Shivraj Rolls Out Housing Plan For Poor
Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday declared to launch a scheme to provide free houses for the homeless in the state.
Madhya Pradesh is going to assembly polls by the end of the year.
In his state level Independence Day address here, Mr Chouhan said that 44 lakh houses were constructed under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Besides, 22 lakh more houses are going to be constructed under the Awas Plus scheme.
However, several people have been found to have been left out of both the schemes.
Hence, he has decided to launch Mukhya Mantri Jan Awas Yojana for those who have been left out of the two housing schemes to provide them free houses, Mr Chouhan said.
“I want that there should be a roof on the head of every family in the state”, he said.
Mr Chouhan said that the state had lacked basic amenities like roads, electricity and drinking water during the previous Congress regime in Madhya Pradesh.
However, the state has moved out of “Bimaru” (sick) state to be considered among the developed states in the country during his 18-year-rule.
He said that the state was reeling under dacoit and Naxal menaces in different parts during the previous Congress regime.
But, the menaces were combated fully during his tenure.
