Utilise AI to provide justice expeditiously: AP Chief Justice Thakur

Vijayawada: Paying rich tributes to the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives in the freedom struggle, Andhra Pradesh high court Chief Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur has stressed the need for more awareness among the masses about the legal system.

He promised to make efforts to avail the latest technology including artificial intelligence to help the people get justice expeditiously.

The CJ hoisted the national flag at the AP High Court premises on Tuesday and addressed the legal fraternity. He said that in order to bring about more awareness among the people, they were conducting legal awareness camps nation-wide. “We are also going to take up digitisation of court records in addition to using AI in AP High Court for quick delivery of judgments.”

He said the new court building would be available for use shortly and the HC would overcome the shortage of space. He vowed efforts to strengthen the infrastructure in the HC along with the other courts in the state.

Marking Independence Day, Advocate-General S. Sriram stressed the role of every citizen to make the nation stronger.

In the AP legislature, the presiding officers of both the Council and Assembly hoisted the national flag in their respective premises. Council chairman Moshenu Raju said freedom fighters fought for Independence to see that all the people lived together in a harmonious way. But, despite India registering rapid growth in key sectors, several incidents were defeating the very purpose for which the freedom fighters sought Independence.

Assembly Speaker Tammineni Sitaram praised Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for initiating a series of welfare schemes to help the poor. The village secretariat system was launched to help eradicate poverty and literacy as also to address unemployment and provide quality life to the people. Empowerment of women was being taken up through several schemes.

Chief Secretary K.S. Jawahar Reddy hoisted the national flag at AP Secretariat and addressed the employees. He said the state government was implementing a series of welfare schemes to help the poor.

South Central Railway’s Vijayawada manager Narendra Patil said the division was doing exceptionally well in freight and passengers segments and the division’s gross earnings were Rs.1,862.27 crore up to July, 2023. It registered a 9.05 per cent increase when compared with last year.
