Bengaluru: Brookefield layout caught in slush

Residents say they deserve the best as areas like Mahadevapura and Whitefield are among the highest revenue generating zones.

Bengaluru: The condition of roads in Green Domain Layout, Brookefield, Whitefield is in shambles. The mud and slushy road condition has been the same despite giving repeated complaints to the authorities. When it rains the condition turns worse that vehicles get stuck in the slush.

Several pics of the poor condition roads are doing the rounds in the social media from the past few days. People have been complaining about the poor condition of the roads to the authorities concerned. They have been tagging the officials on Twitter posts too.

As per a post by Mr Ankit, "The condition of roads in Green Domain Layout, 7th Cross Road, Brookefield, is in bad condition. More than hundred complaints registered since the past 6 months."

The Twitter user demanded officials to maintain accountability and fix the issue as soon as possible.

Green Domain Layout is not so well known. Early this year, a road in the layout had caved in as builders nearby used dynamite to construct in a plot next to the layout.

"When it rains, the condition of the 7th cross road turns into a cesspool and it is hell for the residents. The rainwater does not run down but it stays on the road for many days. When vehicles run on the road, the wheels get stuck" said Mr Manjunath, a resident of Whitefield.

He says that even heavy vehicles like water tankers get stuck.

"There are incidents of even two-wheelers skidding while negotiating the road. The rains make the road slippery," he said.

People claim that areas like Mahadevapura and Whitefield are among the highest revenue generating ones. They pay the highest property tax, income tax and maintain a clean record. But is this the way the politicians and the officials treat us? Are we not entitled to get all the benefits like the ones living in core Bengaluru?, demanded Ms Pooja a techie.

The new commissioner of BBMP, Mr Anil Kumar, has stated that he will carry out rounds of all the 198 wards in city.

We request him to carry out inspection first from the outskirts of the city. They are in a state of sheer neglect. In many areas, the BWSSB under the guise of laying Cauvery water pipelines have damaged every single road in the outermost areas. When we complain they claim that all roads will be asphalted once the entire pipeline is laid.

Looking at the speed of the works going on it will take some more years to complete them, laments Ms Pooja.
