TD-JS Leaders to Start Poll Campaign in AP After Naidu's Release on Regular Bail
Vijayawada: Top leaders of Telugu Desam and Jana Sena would jointly launch the first round of the campaign for the 2024 Assembly polls in AP soon after TD president Nara Chandrababu Naidu is released on bail in the skill development corporation scam case.
Telugu Desam sources say Naidu will start the poll campaign from Kuppam and head for Vijayawada while his son Nara Lokesh from Nandyal, the spot from where Naidu was arrested by the CID in skill scam case, to reach Vijayawada.
Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan would launch the campaign from Vijayawada and head for its conclusion in Visakhapatnam.
The modalities are being worked out on how to go about as the three leaders are planning to cover the Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra regions based on the strength of their vote bank.
However, with Naidu facing several cases -- skill development scam, fibernet scam, anomalies in alignment of Amaravati Inner Ring Road case, the Amarvati assigned lands case and lapses in liquor policy case in ACB special court as also in the high court and the supreme court -- his release on regular bail in the near future is doubtful.
Meanwhile, leaders from both the parties have come up with an 11-point “preliminary joint” manifesto with more stress on welfare of all vulnerable sections of the people and on developmental works.
A TD leader said, “We are chalking out plans on how the three leaders including Naidu, Lokesh and Pawan Kalyan would tour select areas in the state to reach out to the people across the state.”
The Telugu Desam leadership is also planning to revive the ‘Yuva Galam’ of Lokesh to attract mainly the youths though there were plans to wind it up and have full concentration on the TD itself.
Following the arrest of Naidu, he and Lokesh halted their programmes of ‘Bhavishyathuku Guarantee’ and ‘Yuva Galam’. Naidu went into judicial remand while Lokesh ran to Delhi to hold talks with legal experts to extricate his father from the present struggle.
