The court had earlier directed the Chief Secretary, secretary, disabled welfare department, and the TSPSC to file their contentions

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Thursday reprimanded officials for their inordinate delay in submitting the contention of the government on not allowing scribes to accompany candidates who have more than 40 per cent of disability and writing difficulty, during the Group-1, 2,and 3 competitive examinations conducted by the TS Public Service Commission.

According to advocate Gouraram Rajashekar Reddy, TSPSC and the state government were not implementing the memorandum, and the government was also violating the mandatory provisions of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.

The court had earlier directed the Chief Secretary, secretary, disabled welfare department, and the TSPSC to file their contentions. The petition also claimed that the TSPSC was not giving compensatory time of 20 minutes per one hour of the examination time, as per the memorandum issued by the Centre.

As the officials failed to file counters even the court gave them after several opportunities, Justice P. Madhavi Devi expressed anger and gave one last chance to the government to file its response by November 28, else the secretary, disabled welfare department, will have to be present before the court.
