Fix My Street: BBMP receives 2,500 complaints in 3 days
Bengaluru: Just four days after the launch of the mobile phone application, Fix My Street, by the BBMP to address civic issues, over 2,500 complaints have been registered till Friday.
The app was launched on December 11 and saw more than 5,000 downloads on Android and IOS systems. Complaints related to streetlights not functioning, garbage dumping, no pourakarmikas to collect garbage from the doorstep, dumping of constructional debris and water and drainage problems topped the list of complaints.
Mayor Sampath Raj told Deccan Chronicle, “Highest complaints through the app have been received from Mahadevapura which is around 550. We have also been receiving complaints about water or drain problem and these are being forwarded to the BWSSB.”
He said, “We will create more awareness among the people about the Fix My Street app and also people who do not use apps can always register a complaint at our control room and ward level offices. For now, we have received a good response for the app and are waiting to check how it unfolds in the public domain.”
A senior BBMP officer said that the public can start using the app instead of visiting BBMP offices at ward level to register a complaint. “Registering a complaint through the app is time saving for both the complainant and the department officials concerned. There is no need for people to visit offices to get a minor issue resolved.”
When asked about the people posting their reviews about officials not responding to the complaints registered, he said, “As soon as the complaint is registered through the app, the control room in the BBMP’s main office will check from which ward the complaint has been registered and will forward it to the officials concerned. The officers have been directed to resolve the minor issues at the earliest and if the issue involves more agencies or will take time, then the senior officers should be informed. Suitable action will be taken against the officials for delay in attending the problem or callous attitude.”
For now, the IT department is monitoring the app and in the coming days an assistant commissioner from the project department will be in-charge of the app.
