Four nuns who took on Bishop Franco defy transfers
Kottayam: The Missionaries of Jesus has transferred four dissident nuns of the congregation who are now at the St Francis Mission Home in Kuravilangad to different convents.
The transfer letter came as a reminder to the original transfer order issued in March.
Sr Anupama, one of them, said it was a move to take disciplinary action against them and they were not accepting it. "We will remain here till the end of the case against Bishop Franco," she told DC. "Even if they oust us from the congregation we are not ready to give up. We will face the consequences and if needed take legal recourse." Sr Alphy and Sr Josephine received the letter on January 7 and Sr Ancita and Sr Anupama on January 15.
Sr Alphy got the transfer to the St Joseph's Convent Pakarkala, Bihar, Sr Josephine to St Thomas Convent, Lalmatia, Sr Ancita to St Claire's Mission Home, Pariyaram, and Sr Anupama to St Mary's Convent Chemiary, Punjab.
The reminder letter was signed by Sr Rejina, superior general of the congregation.
Others in the convent, Sr Neena Rose and the survivor nun, did not get a transfer.
The St Francis Mission Home is under the administrative jurisdiction of the Jalandhar diocese.
