Kochi​: Japan invites young engineers
Kochi​: Consul general of Japan in Chennai Kojiro Uchiyama said on Wednesday that young Indian engineers and scientists have great opportunity in Japan due to decline in number of young Japanese engineers and scientists in the country due to the aging population there.
Addressing media at Nippon Kerala Centre, the headquarters of the Alumni Society of Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships (AOTS) Kerala, here, he said that the aging population of the country was a cause of concern back home.
Kojiro Uchiyama said the acceptance of English also has gone up dramatically over the past 10 years in different segments and learning Japanese language in due course would be an added advantage. He added that Japan has already initiated engagements in the educational sector in the state with Cusat and SCMS Institute. “We are open for new ones too,” he said. He also stressed on the need to start direct flight services from Japan to Kochi. He conferred ‘the order of the rising sun, gold and silver race with the emperor’s medal of honour to Edgar Morris, Patron of ASA, Kerala.
