Kurnool: Paruveta utsavam held in Ahobilam
Kurnool: The Ahobilam shrine launched Paarveta Utsavam, also called the wedding invitation of Lord Sri Narsimha Swamy, on Wednesday in a grand manner at Bachepalle village surrounding Ahobilam temple.
According to mythology, Paarveta was the most sought after celestial wedding event that was open to commoners in all 33 surrounding villages by Lord Narasimha himself inviting the villagers to his marriage. The uniqueness of the 45- day ritual is that every day the procession deity visits one village.
Ahobilam is the only shrine where all the nine forms of Lord Narasimha are worshipped. It is said that the entire Nallamala forest stretching from Kurnool to Chittoor district is a personification of Lord Adishesha himself whose tail-end is Srisailam, middle is Ahobilam and the head is Tirumala.
The mutt authorities led by its endowment officer G. Kameswara-mma and mutt delegates S. Sampath, Venugopal Achari performed special pujas on the occasion of the launch of the 45-day Utsavam.
Lord Narsimha Swamy would invite his devotees for his marriage, said temple EO., quoting the legend. “If not, it is time for you to head to Ahobilam in Kurnool district in the next 45 days where you can witness people residing in the surrounding 33 villages in Allagadda assembly constituency being invited for the holy wedding of Lord Sri Narasimha Swamy, presiding deity of Ahobilam. And this event ends on March 1 at Ahobilam temple,” he added.
After the process of inviting is completed, the mutt official would perform Swami vari kalyanotsavam on March 1 in a traditional manner. Some tribals and priests of Ahobilam temple, considering themselves as representatives of the Lord, take out a procession called Paarveta, with Lord Sri Narasimha Swamy in a palanquin covering 33 villages in the temple town’s vicinity in 45 days.
