Osmania University students bat for fixed schedule
Hyderabad: Students of Osmania University filed an online petition for a fixed examination timetable, alleging that the lack of it was posing serious problems.
Former students alleged they did not pursue higher courses in the university as it did not have fixed examination dates. However, university officials denied the allegations and said examinations were postponed only last time as Indian Science Congress was proposed to be held there.
But, students alleged that such ‘negligence and constant change’ in timetable demotivates them. Some of the foreign students had to even rebook their tickets paying heavily.
Ahmed Faud Musawa, a PhD student from Yemen, who signed the petition, said, “Generally students expect the examinations in a particular month or specific week. But here the timetable gets rescheduled quite often. I faced the issue when I was doing my masters in the university.’’
Another student Omer Ahmed said, “Other universities in India had a fixed plan, and I have never seen their students worry about the dates for their exams.” It was really disappointing to know that the university provided little information about the exam dates, he added.
Another student said timetable was not available even a month before the examination and results were out after five to six months, making future plans go haywire.
Varsity Vice-Chancellor S. Ramachandran denied the allegations and said, “We have not postponed any exam; we have just rescheduled them in the wake of Indian Science Congress.”
