Hyderabadi arrested in Italy
Hyderabad: An argument at a restaurant has led to the arrest of a student from Hyderabad in Italy last month. Local authorities have stated that the student, Mohammed Ghouse, is suffering from mental illness and admitted him in a hospital in Italy. Officials have refused to send him back without an attendant.
Mr Ghouse’s father, Mr Mohd Abdul Raheem, said his son was suffering from depression and he had undergone treatment for nine months in the state.
Mr Ghouse left in October 2016 to pursue his Masters in Communication and Computer Networking Engineering from Politecnico di Torino College at Corso Duca degli Abruzzi, Torino. He came back in March 2017 on vacation and returned a month later.
He came home in December 2017 and stayed nine months due to health problems and went back to Italy to complete his studies in September 2018.
Mr Raheem said he was informed that on March 14 his son was arrested by local police when he had an altercation with a few people.
He said considering his mental state he was admitted in a hospital.
Local authorities informed him about the situation and advised him travel to Torini to bring Mr Ghouse back as they would not send him without a companion belonging to his family.
Mr Raheem said he was unable to bear the travel expenses and asked Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to intervene and provide monetary help to bring his son back. He requested the Chief Minister to ask the Union external affairs ministry and the Indian High Commission in Milan to provide necessary legal aid.
