Kollam: The Cabinet has decided to appoint Dr. S. Karthikeyan IAS, who served as the Director of Fisheries with an additional charge of Director of Lotteries, as the Kollam District Collector. Dr. Karthikeyan hailing from Erode in Tamil Nadu was earlier the Thiruvananthapuram sub-collector. His wife Dr. K. Vasuki IAS who served as the Suchitwa Mission executive director has been appointed Thiruvananthapuram District Collector.
“My first priority after joining as the district collector will be on waste management. I would also focus on urban development which is of interest to me. Considering my long stint as the fisheries director, I could also contribute for the development of the area,” Dr. Karthikeyan told DC.
Dr. Karthikeyan joined IAS in 2011 while Dr. Vasuki joined Madhya Pradesh cadre in 2008. The couple got married in 2010. Dr. Vasuki was earlier transferred from Madhya Pradesh cadre to Kerala cadre on the ground of marriage to Dr. S Karthikeyan.
