Hyderabad: Irrigation projects receive good flow
Hyderabad: Irrigation projects have received good inflows with heavy rains in upstream states and few districts. Karnataka released water downstream from Almatti and Narayanpur dams due to which Jurala and Srisailam received huge inflows on Thursday. Water level in projects in Adilabad, Karimnagar also witnessed sharp increase.
Around 25,000 cusecs of instant inflows begin into Sriramsagar project, lifeline to the north Telangana districts. Water level is reached 1063.80 feet on Thursday night as against full reservoir level is 1091 ft. Water capacity is 18.437 tmc on Thursday against full storage capacity is 90 tmc.
On Thursday by 7 pm, the Srisailam project received inflow of 2,12,100 cusecs and witnessed outflow of 97,709 cusecs.
While the full reservoir level of Srisailam is 885 ft, the current level stands at 875.1 feet. The Nagarjuna Sagar project, which is hit due to deficit rainfall during the last few months, started witnessing good inflows from Thursday. It received inflows of 74,084 cusecs, while outflow was 15,983 cusecs.
The FRL of Nagarjuna Sagar stands at 590 ft and by Thursday the water level reached 526 ft. Officials opened gates of Yellampally and Kadem projects on Thursday to release water downstream.
Irrigation minister T. Harish Rao asked officials to monitor the situation at reservoirs and send a report to government every hour in the wake of heavy rain forecast in state in the next 48 hours.
