No irregularities in transfer of cops: Warangal CP Ranganath
Warangal: All police transfers were in strict adherence with the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI), Warangal police commissioner A.V. Ranganath said in a statement released on Wednesday.
Following several complaints regarding irregularities in transfer of officials of various departments, particularly the police department, in violation of ECI guidelines, the ECI had sought an explanation from the State Election Commission (SEC).
21 police officials under the Warangal police commissionerate were transferred and posted to various places, while three each from Mahbubabad and Mulugu districts were transferred recently.
With the ECI asking the SEC to submit a comprehensive report after probing the transfer process, several alleged irregularities under the Warangal commissionerate were posted on social media, which later went viral.
Condemning the allegations, Ranganath, in his statement, said the ECI had issued guidelines on June 2 in view of the upcoming Assembly polls. He stated that all transfers were carried out as per ECI’s guidelines and within the stipulated time period. “The allegations regarding the transfer of 21 officers are baseless. A report was also prepared regarding the transfers and the same was sent to the State Election Commission,” Ranganath said.
