Netizens Slam Police Laxity, Home Minister for Failure to Nab Activist's Killers

Hyderabad: A day after the Bandlaguda police solved the murder case of 27-year-old rowdy sheeter and social activist-blogger Sayeed Bin Abdul Rahmaan Bawazeer, with the arrest of the main accused, netizens cried foul claiming that the murder took place right under the police’s nose.

Bawazeer, who had about 9,800 followers on his Facebook page ‘Jo dikta woh boltou, jo boltou wo kartou’, would regularly post and talk about various civic issues in Jalpally municipal area, and had, in multiple videos, said that his life was under threat but that he would continue to bring out the truth.

In numerous videos, he spoke about encroachments near a pond in Osmannagar, dog bite incidents, bad roads and a poor drainage system, among other issues. He also called out various leaders, including education minister Sabitha Indra Reddy, Chevella MP Ranjith Reddy, and the Chandrayangutta police over alleged laxity.

Based on these video posts, netizens raised doubts about a biased investigation into his murder. They shared Bawazeer’s videos in which he claimed to have complained to the Chandrayangutta police and sought protection, but in vain.

Netizens accused the police of laxity and said that he would’ve been alive if they provided security. The arrested accused were identified as Ahmed Bin Hajeb, 20 and Mohammed Ayub Khan. Ahmed Saadi and Abdulla Saadi, Jalpally municipal chairman, Saleh Saadi and Omer Saadi were named co-conspirators.

An audio clip of a telephonic conversation between Bawazeer and home minister Mahmood Ali also went viral. In the purported clip, he can be heard desperately requesting Ali for protection as he suspected a conspiracy to kill him.

“..Yet this dysfunctional HM and Police couldn’t save the life of Bawazir. Eventually he was brutally murdered by a gang on 10th Aug 2023! Is this what we deserve in your No.1 Telangana, #KCR ji?? Pl dismiss your HM.. (sic),” wrote Dr R.S. Praveen Kumar on X, formerly Twitter.

“A situation where a person pleads to the State Home Minister that there is a threat to his life under the regime cannot be protected...!!! (sic)” tweeted another user, named Pavan.

“Extremely unfortunate that despite the acknowledgement of complaint to @CPHydCity @TelanganaDGP, failed to act , leading to a young life loss. Who will hold them accountable @mahmoodalibrs ?! You were equally complacent of your position instead ordering action Cc @India_NHRC (sic)" said Vijay Gopal. What an Embarrassment @GCMohanTSPolice and @BRSparty Are to our state,After complaining about death threats no action has been taken,Shaik Syed Bawazeer He was the voice of Poors in oldcity.@KTRBRS told proudly in parliament that our State is a peaceful how than he’s murdered (sic),” another user, Saif, posted on the platform.

Some even claimed that Bawazeer was falsely implicated in several police cases, and was acquitted in four of them recently.

A former MIM party worker said he was a crucial witness who testified in court during the trial of a case of attack on party leader Akbaruddin Owaisi in 2011.

Several pictures of Bawazeer, in close quarters with Akbaruddin Owaisi and Asaduddin Owaisi, also went viral, with netizens demanding answers for their silence on his murder.
