Why wasn’t he taken to Nims?
Hyderabad: Questions are being raised as to why the body of Kodela Siva Prasad Rao was taken to the Indo-American Cancer Hospi-tal and not to the government-run NIMS or the private Apollo Hospital. The Indo-American Hospital is a cancer care centre. Emergency treatment at NIMS or Apollo Hospital would have been different, stated experts.
Kodela’s residence is located on Road No. 5, Banjara Hills, while the Indo-American Hospital is on Road No 10 Banjara Hills. The new building of NIMS has a gate that opens into Banjara Hill, Road No 3 which is nearer. It is argued that NIMS would have handled the case differently.
Conspiracy theories have been floating that the Indo-American Hospital was preferred as he was its ex-chairman and a board member.
Senior doctors at the hospital stated that Rao died due to asphyxiation. The Indo-American Hospital stated in a bulletin that he was brought at 11.35 am to the hospital in an unresponsive state. The medical team could not revive him and he was declared dead at 12.39 pm.
