Kochi: SoS sees govt's hand in bail for Bishop Franco Mulakkal

Government counsel and the police has also made similar statement even before Bishop Franco was brought to the state to record evidence.

Kochi: The Save Our Sisters (SoS) Action Council, responsible for spearheading the public protest by nuns demanding the arrest of Bishop Franco Mulakkal said that the bishop in judicial remand was able to obtain bail from the High Court due to ineptitude of the government in handling the case.

Speaking to this newspaper on Tuesday Augustine Vattoly, convener of SOS Action Council, said the rape accused bishop could obtain bail on the basis of counsel for the government stating that the investigation in connection with the case is on the verge of completion.

Government counsel and the police has also made similar statement even before Bishop Franco was brought to the state to record evidence. The important witnesses in the case are persons vulnerable to be influenced by the bishop. The government has failed in bringing out the truth to the attention of the court properly that if given bail, the accused will subvert the case. The acolytes of the bishop are facing the charges of intimidating the nun accompanied by an accused in a murder case. F. Vattoly and Felix Pulludan of the Joint Christian Council said protests will be revived .
