White horse worshipped as part of Dasara

Everyday, the puja to the Goddess starts with gou puja. On Tuesday, however, devotees conducted puja to the white horse

Kakinada: As part of Dasara celebrations, devotees on Tuesday worshipped and performed pujas to the 'white horse' brought specially from Visakhapatnam under the guidance of Abhinava Vivekananda Brahmasri Chaganti Koteswara Rao at Ayyappa Swamy Temple.

Everyday, the puja to the Goddess starts with gou puja. On Tuesday, however, devotees conducted puja to the white horse. As part of the spiritual discourse, Mr Koteswara Rao said that the Seer of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham Sankara Vijayendra Sarswathi suggested to him that for people residing in the zone of River Godavari and Bay of Bengal, it would be good to worship the white horse in seeking protection for themselves from natural calamities.

As per the directive of the Seer, the devotees performed special pujas to the white horse. He said that the horse denotes 'power' or 'energy' as well as speed.

The horse, he said, possesses a strong capacity in its backbone that has immense power which no other animal has. He said that the Goddess is requested to give so much strength to the devotees and the people to protect from national calamities.

He said that by worshipping the horse one wants to have the capacity to bear blasting winds and cyclones and other calamities.

Moreover, this worship results in protection of harvest being destroyed during the national calamities.

Ayyappa Swamy Temple Manager Mr P.Gopala Krishna said that in Puranas, giving more importance to Worship the 'Horse' with a grand manner. He said that the devotees were being understood the importance of animals and its service to the society.

Meanwhile, thousands of devotees performed Kumkum puja at Ayyappa Swamy Temple to mark the holy event.

In Sree Peetham, the Goddess has been decorated as 'Gayatri Devi' on Tuesday. The Deovtees offered poojas under the guidance of the Peetham Seer Swamy Paripoornanda Saraswathi.
