TPCC suspends two leaders for indiscipline

Hyderabad: Protests at Gandhi Bhavan continued for the second day on Monday against the denial of tickets to a few candidates in the first list announced on Sunday. Protestors burnt the effigies of TPCC chief A.Revanth Reddy alleging that he had sold tickets.

The TPCC leadership took a serious view of the issue and cracked the whip on the protestors, who were levelling baseless allegations against leaders for denial of tickets.

The TPCC disciplinary action committee (DAC) suspended Kuruva Vijaya Kumar, a ticket aspirant from Gadwal, and Kalim Baba, a ticket aspirant from Bahadarpura. Both of them, along with their supporters, stormed into Gandhi Bhavan and staged protests after the tickets were allotted to others.

The DAC made it clear that the state leadership does not have the final say in the selection of candidates, which is done by the party high command. DAC chairman G. Chinna Reddy said the central election committee of the party is the apex body to decide on the tickets. He said that targeting the TPCC president and holding him responsible for denial of tickets was uncalled for and clearly aimed at tarnishing his image.

Gandhi Bhavan has been witnessing protests since Sunday after the release of the first list of candidates. Supporters of some leaders, who were denied tickets, locked the office main gate while a few others barged into the press conference of TPCC vice-president Mallu Ravi, prompting him to abruptly cancel the programme and leave the office.
