Korea to start its consulate in Guntur
Guntur: Consul general of Republic of South Korea for south India, Kim Hyung Tae, said that Korea would open their consulate in Guntur and that 100 Korean companies are ready to invest in AP. The team of Korean delegates visited Vignan University at Vadlamudi on Thursday and interacted with the teaching and non-teaching staff and students. Mr Hyung said that Kia Motors in Anantapur district was ready to start production, investing Rs 13,000 crore. He said nearly 100 Korean companies will be going to invest in AP in the next six months.
Mr Hyung said nearly 2,000 Koreans will come to AP to work. “The Korean government had already entered into MoUs and agreements with the AP government about opening industries and companies in AP. Eligible and skilled youth of AP would be recruited by Kia Motors, he said and also promised to provide employment to students of Vignan University in Korean companies and industries. He also promised to extend cooperation to educational institutions in producing industry-ready students to work in Korean ventures.
VU president Dr Lavu Rattaiah said they are ready to produce 1,500 industry-ready students from their institute. He said that VU will offer free education to Korean students and sought cooperation for upgrading the skills of VU students, with the help of Korean universities. VU V-C Dr M.Y.S. Prasad said VU had MoUs with 6 Korean universities and that they are trying to ink pacts with more universities. Honorary consul of Republic of Korea to Telangana State Chukkapalli Ramesh sought Korea’s cooperation in development of sports.
