Bengaluru: The deadline set by the BBMP for illegal commercial establishments to voluntarily vacate from residential areas ended on December 14. The Palike which gave a public notice is now gearing up to issue individual notices to these illegal units.
BBMP Commissioner Manjunath Prasad said, “As per the high court order, we have issued the public notice, requesting illegal commercial units to close down voluntarily. Our next step will be issuing individual notices to these illegal units.”
He said, “Our health inspectors have already started collecting data on the illegal units. We will also take the help of help of Bescom, BWSSB, commercial taxes department and others to ensure that not a single commercial unit operating in residential area is missed out. Once we have the data, we will issue individual notices to all such illegal units and seek their explanation. Illegal unit operators may approach the court. In such cases an adjudication order has to be passed to empower ourselves with powers to close such units.”
