Owaisi rules out alliance with Cong, says will extend support for development
Hyderabad: MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi on Saturday ruled out the possibility of an alliance between his party and the Congress, while speaking in the Assembly during the thanksgiving motion to Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan’s address.
He said that the MIM would extend support to the Congress for providing better services to people, in developmental terms.
“The MIM supported the Congress when Y.S. Rajashekar Reddy was Chief Minister. The MIM will support the Congress, seeking more development in Old City, by providing drinking water, Metro Rail and other facilities, on the lines of newer parts of the city,” he said.
Owaisi also demanded that the government consider allowing students to write competitive exams in Urdu language, which would “help hundreds of Muslim students to get government jobs”.
He said that the Congress government required Rs 2.16 lakh crore to fulfil all promises made in its manifesto and the Six Guarantees announced by Sonia Gandhi.
“I request the Congress government to implement all Six Guarantees for the benefit of people in Telangana without fail and provide funds to Old City. If the Congress fails to handle people's issues, the MIM will raise their voice in the Assembly for public benefit,” Owaisi said.
