NIA court judge's security beefed after Macca verdict

I can only say that armed policemen are deployed at the house of the honourable Judge, the ACP said.

Hyderabad: Rachakonda police provided armed security personnel at the house of National Investigation Agency (NIA) Special Court Judge Ravinder Reddy who pronounced the verdict in the Mecca Masjid blast case on Monday. Ravinder Reddy has submitted his resignation after pronouncing the judgment in the Mecca Masjid blast case. He cited personal reasons behind this decision.

Five persons, including Swami Aseemanand and four others chargesheeted by the NIA in the Mecca Masjid blast case were acquitted by the court on Monday.

Malkajgiri ACP G. Sundeep confirmed that the security has been provided. "I can only say that armed policemen are deployed at the house of the honourable Judge. There are no reports or alerts of any specific threat to him. We are taking safety measures in view of the sensitivity of the case," the ACP said.

A senior official said that an armed guard is provided at the house of the Judge and police officers in mufti are deployed in the neighbourhood. "The area has closed circuit camera surveillance and we will be monitoring the activity there," the official said. The Judge is likely to be provided Personal Security Officers (PSO). The police are taking security measures keeping in view previous incidents revolving around the Mecca Masjid blast.
