Rush for admissions at MANUU
Hyderabad: The Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) has registered a remarkable increase in the number of applicants seeking admissions in various disciplines through entrance-based courses. The courses most sought out are B. Tech. (CS), M.C.A., M. Tech (CS and Engineering), M.Ed. and Diploma in Engineering.
According to Professor P. Fazlur Rahman at the Directorate of Admissions, the total number of applications received for entrance-based courses is 10,975 this year an enormous jump of 26 per cent from the 8,720 the previous year. The number of applicants for Urdu increased by 142 per cent, with 491 applications for 9 seats this year, as opposed to 203 the previous year.
Professor Rahman further said, “Around 1,814 researchers have applied for admission into PhD programmes this year, compared to 748 last year. On the other hand, 56 applications have been received for six seats in PhD in Persian as compared to 19 of last year. For PhD programmes in Mathematics and Zoology, the number of applications increased to 62 and 45 respectively as against 12 each last year.”
