Hyderabad: A mother and her daughter died and two other minor girls suffered injuries after a high voltage electric service wire fell on a metal wire while they were drying clothes on Friday in Saif Colony, Shaheen Nagar.
According to our sources, mother Salma Begum, wife of Chand Pasha, and her nine-year-old daughter Sania Begum were hanging clothes to dry on a metal wire when a high tension electric wire fell on it.
As a result, both mother and daughter, who were in contact with the wire at the time, got electrocuted and fell on the floor.
Salma’s two other daughters, Muskan, 11, and Shameem, 7, also suffered injuries in attempting to rescue them. Subsequently, a neighbour, Mr Mohammed Aziz, rushed to the rescue and removed the wire after taking note of the situation.
Balapur sub-inspector of police Mr P. Nagaraju sped to the spot and shifted the bodies of the mother and daughter to Osmania General Hospital for autopsy. Maheshwaram MLA P. Sabitha Indira Reddy also arrived at the spot and paid homage to the deceased. She asked the government to provide treatment to the injured girls and to look into the matter as soon as possible and take action against concerned officials if proven guilty of negligence.
