Agnipath protests - Public stayed home to avoid traffic and incidents

As reports of trains being burnt came in, many others dropped plans of heading to office

Hyderabad: Several employees in government and private companies refrained from stepping out of their homes and availed leaves to avoid traffic snarls on Friday morning as news broke on social media about the tense situation at the Secunderabad railway station. As reports of trains being burnt came in, many others dropped plans of heading to office.

Gajendra Rao, a resident of Kanajiguda, said that he saw the news on Friday morning and opted for leave. “I saw how bad the situation was and the scrolling on TV said that the whole city is on high alert. I did not want to take any risk and simply opted for leave. I even mentioned the same reason to my manager and it was accepted,” He said..

“Never expected that I would have to think twice before stepping out of my home in a city like Hyderabad. However, as each city has its ups and downs, I’m sure this too shall pass and Hyderabad should get its glory back. The recent spur of incidents in the city is very distressing to see,” said Shilpa Rawat, who cancelled her office cab at the last minute and stayed home on Friday.
