AP will become education hub: Speaker

Visakhapatnam: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is making all his efforts to make the state an education hub in the country, said Speaker Tammineni Sitaram while distributing merit awards to toppers of tenth and intermediate under the ‘Animutyalu’ scheme in his home constituency of Amadalavalasa in Srikakulam district on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, Sitaram said the Chief Minister brought in many revolutionary changes in the field of education, bringing it within the reach of poorer sections of society.

After garlanding the statue of former president Sarvepalli Radhakarishnan, the Speaker interacted with the students about the progress of their education and the help they were getting from the government.

He said the Chief Minister launched several welfare schemes so that the children’s education should not be a burden on the parents.

He said Jagan Mohan Reddy launched ‘Animutyalu’ to motivate the students to reach higher echelons of society. He said merit awards were given at the district level on Saturday and at the state level on June 20.

“The Chief Minister won laurels from across the country for his schemes, Amma Vodi, Vidya Deevena, and Vasathi Deevena,” the Speaker said.

He said under Jagananna Vidya Kanuka, three pairs of uniforms, a pair of shoes, two pairs of socks, textbooks and notebooks, and a school bag were included as part of the school kits, which benefited over 40 lakh students in the state. Similarly, an amount of '15,000 was being given to mothers of students under Amma Vodi, and as a part of Jagananna Gorumudda, Ragi was being given to students to increase nutritional levels. Several local-level leaders were present at the gathering.
