UG electronic bins to be installed across Viajayawada

Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) has started focusing on making the city garbage-free.

Vijayawada: The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) has started focusing on making the city garbage-free. With the success of underground e-garbage bins at two places in city, the VMC is now focusing on extending them to 20 places across the city. Garbage and solid waste management are a big problem for the authorities and efforts are being taken up by the VMC to clear them.

Buoyed by the success of door-to-door segregated garbage collection, the civic body is now gearing up to instal underground e garbage bins to resolve open dumping. “Underground dumper bins are helpful in collecting segregated garbage and the problem of stinking has been resolved with these bins. Special alerts on garbage level will help to clear bins on time. The pilot project at at Loyola College Centre has prompted the VMC to call for tenders to install these bins at 20 major junctions in the city,” said VMC chief medical and health officer Gopi Naik.
