Diarrhoea claims one death, 20 fresh cases in Tempalli
Vijayawada: Diarrhoea claimed one more death, taking the total number of deaths to three and has affected a total of 131 people, including 20 fresh cases at Tempalli village of Gannavaram mandal in Krishna district on Monday.
Following the outbreak of diarrhoea due to the consumption of contaminated water in the village, the district medical and health authorities are conducting medical camp in the village round-the-clock to help provide healthcare to the infected and suspected cases.
The health authorities noticed the presence of klebsiella bacteria in the drinking water which was contaminated with drain water, which caused the diarrhoea among a section of villagers living especially in low-lying areas.
The authorities arranged for protected drinking water and are supplying water through tankers for regular usage in household works.
Krishna district medical and health officer Dr Geetabai said, “One case of death and 20 fresh cases of diarrhoea were reported on Monday. We are taking all requisite measures and will continue medical camp in the village until we get zero diarrhea cases.”
