Released Early Over Good Behaviour, Rape Convict Rapes Minor Again in MP
Bhopal: A rape convict, who had secured relief in his sentence for his good behaviour in jail a year and half ago, allegedly raped a minor girl in Satna in Madhya Pradesh, police said on Thursday.
The accused Rakesh Verma (35) lured the alleged victim, a five-year-old girl, by offering her candies at around five pm on Wednesday and took her in an auto to an isolated place to rape her, Satna city superintendent of police Mahendra Singh Chouhan said.
The accused was arrested on Thursday under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and under Protection of Child from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, police said.
According to the police, the grandmother of the alleged victim had noticed the accused taking the girl with him in an auto and raised an alarm.
Later, police reached the spot and searched for the girl.
The minor was found lying in the spot of the crime bleeding profusely after a two-hour-long search, police said.
She was rushed to the local government hospital and later referred to the district hospital in Rewa in Madhya Pradesh when her condition worsened, police said.
According to Mr Chouhan, the accused was arrested on charges of raping a four and half years old girl 12 years ago and later sentenced to 10-year-jail term by the court in the case.
He was however given a relief in his sentence term and released a year and half ago after spending seven years in jail.
