Hyderabad: Congress leader A Revanth Reddy has made serious allegations against Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) M. Mahender Reddy. Mr Revanth Reddy has compared the DGP with Kasim Razvi, who organised a private militia in order to support the Nizam’s rule in Hyderabad at the time of Independence. Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan in the city on Monday, Mr Revanth Reddy got very emotional and said that the caretaker Chief Minister and DGP are planning to target him with cases from the Enforcement Directo-rate (ED).
He said, “KCR and his son Mr K.T. Rama Rao have several times visited Delhi. We came to know that Mr KCR has taken two promises from the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. One is regarding early elections, which Mr Modi is working hard for, and pressuring the Election Commission. The second one is filing ED cases against me regarding the cash-for-vote case. Some sources from the police department informed me that the DGP has written a letter to the ED saying that during the cash-for-vote case Rs 50 lakh was recovered and Rs 4.5 crore was not found. The DGP recommended that the ED take it up as a money laundering case.”
He added, “The DGP, Intelligence, DIG T. Prabhakar Rao and KCR will be responsible for any mishap in my family. Police are surrounding my house and following me in mufti. The DGP is behaving as a private general for KCR army. We will pay back the DGP if he continues to be the same. The letter was written to ED on September 12 and Modi planned to arrest me on September 13. Later the ED officials said that arrest is not possible and search can be done in my house.”
He also said, “KCR, DGP and DIG are planning to target my family and relatives. With the cheap tricks of the DGP, the police department is also divided into two groups and the good officials revealed this thing to us. The TRS government is targeting all the strong Congress leaders.” Mr Revanth Reddy also responded to the honour killing of Dalit man P. Pranay Kumar. “Though the victim’s wife Amrutha informed that TRS leader Vemula Veeresham was involved in the murder, the police or the government is not taking any action against him.” Meanwhile the Congress party has suspended Miriyalaguda Congress leader Karim who allegedly supported Maruthi Rao, father of Amrutha.
