Congress to pacify leaders with nominated posts

Mr Khuntia said that UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi would also tour Telangana state.

Hyderabad: The Congress is assuring nominated posts in the government for those do not get tickets for the forthcoming Assembly elections. Speaking to mediapersons in Delhi after a high-level meeting, Congress’s TS affairs incharge R.C. Khuntia said, “There are three to four strong candidates in some constituencies, we will do justice to all of them. After the Congress forms government, those who did not tickets to contest the elections will be placed in nominated posts.”

On the firming up of the Opposition alliance in the state, Mr Khuntia said the discussions were going on smoothly and seat adjustments would be finalised soon. “Party workers shouldn’t believe the unnecessary reports about the Congress and Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS). Till now we have met TJS chief M. Kodandaram thrice and discussed seat sharing. This will be completed by the end of the month,” he said while speaking with mediapersons.

Earlier, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy along with Mr Khuntia met party senior leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad and A.K. Antony in Delhi and discussed election strategies. The discussion took place on the candidates list, seat adjustments in the Prajakutami and party president Rahul Gandhi’s tour that will be held this Saturday.

Mr Rahul Gandhi will address a Sadbhavana Yatra at Charminar, before heading to Bhainsa in Adilabad district and Kamareddy to hold public meetings. He will leave for Delhi later that night.

Mr Khuntia said that UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi would also tour Telangana state.
